This Clobbered 19th C Famille Rose plate is fine example of a well executed clobbered piece. Various traditional motifs are combined to create an extraordinary design that mixes the "100 antiques" theme with flower balls, mystical beasts, and scholarly objects. The focal point of the piece is a vase which is simply decorated with a bird and a butterfly among flowers and foliage. The flowers in the vase serve to provide an additional decorative element to the plate.
This plate is in very good condition, with minimal wear to enamel or gilding. There are no hairlines or apparent chips. The plate measures approximately 9.75 inches.
