This is an antique Balinese wood mask. To some the masks represent a celebration of good fortune and health; to others the masks are seen as a gateway for ancestral spirits to manifest in the present. In either case, the masks hold significant meanings to the Balinese people. The exact age is unknown; however, signs of age are present in the condition of the wood. These signs include cracks in the wood and chips along the edge.
